The Research Process

 1. Getting Started
  • When beginning your research, you first need to make yourself familiar with the project. Also you need to make sure you know all of the requirements and deadlines, so you don't miss anything.
  • Make sure you know the style, length, and any other requirements there might be.
2. Deciding your Topic
  • First when deciding what topic to research you need to choose something that is an interest to you, because the the passion you put into the research will shine in your paper.
  • Next, you need to decide where you stand on your topic, whether you are for or against it. 
 3. Begin Basic Research
  • Make Sure to use credible sources.
  • Start with simply identifying what your topic is. Then after you are more familiar with it, then start by researching on databases. They have an abundance of credible sources that have great information.
  4. Creating an Outline
  • This step helps you strategically plan out your essay, so you make sure to include all of your information and meet the requirements of the paper. 
5. Writing Your Paper
  • Don't Forget to have an attention grabber to entice the reader to wanting to find out more. 
  • Also you need to include a thesis statement in the introduction paragraph.
  • In between your body paragraphs include transition words to help the flow of your Essay
  • Finally make sure in your conclusion to restate your thesis and main points.
6. Revising Your Essay
  • An amazing editing tool that is optional to use is turnitin.com. This website will help you make sure that you have sited all of your sources properly within your essay.
  • Peer editing is another great way to catch minor errors that you have missed. It is always good to have a second pair of eyes read over your paper. 
7.Citing Your Sources
  • A useful website while trying to cite your sources is easybib.com
  • This website will correctly site your sources in MLA or APA and put them in alphabetical order, which creates less work for you.
